He has a 34 on his ACT and a 4.0 GPA. He has earned 18 hours of college credit and his senior year has only just begun. A 224 on the PSAT along with four years of Student Council leadership positions also head the list. He leads Union's TeePee Crew as the Czar and oversees the construction of one of our high school's most sacred traditions. With a great deal of help from spirit teams, UHype, and the striking Scottish Skins, he leads the student body to raucous levels of noise as our competitive teams compete for UHS. Moreover, he has a small group of guys at church to whom he is loyal.
I could make a big deal about each of these accomplishments but they fall short of remarkable when I read about how he invests in people.
A Union Alum and former UHS cheerleader sent me this text earlier this week:
"Hi Mrs. Witcher..... I wanted to tell you, I ran into Wade at Lowe's a few weeks ago and although I am sure ehe didn't know exactly who I was, he was so kind and is such an incredible young man! I told him my cousin is on teepee Crew and Just moved back form living in Egypt and thanked Wade for how kind he has been to him. Parker....was extremely hesitant about going to Back to School Bash and the game in Dallas last weekend but Wade took him under his wing an the had incredible time. You have the greatest kid. Love you all so much."
Our accomplishments mean very little if we don't invest in people. As parents, we continue to pray for this young man, for a humble heart, for a servant's spirit, for healing and courage.
