Tonight, I spoke to the man who was with Taylor as she lay trapped in her car. He was kind and gentle, but direct and succinct. I needed to hear what he told me and what he described.
I am thankful for his strength and the strength of the officers who were there that night. I remember talking to them in the emergency room; I remember their kindness.
I saw Josie and Price in the ER. I saw the mangled car days later. I can only imagine the horror of the scene when these brave men answered the call. I am thankful for their courage to serve then and to share with me now. I am thankful for the wives and family members who must create a space into which they run when the worst of this world collides with life.
It's a special kind of soul that runs into tragedy with purpose and intention.
