I have begun to write about at least six of them tonight and cannot bring myself to finish. To write about one and not the others feels wrong.
I have been surrounded by good.
Today, my friend, Tracy, listened to opening arguments in the trial for the man who hit her daughter, Kasey, an OSU sophomore. She was on a Spring Break trip last spring in Gulf Shores, walking hand in hand with her sorority sisters when a man who was allegedly driving under the influence hit her with his oversized truck. This mom, one day after Mother's Day, sat in a courtroom and watched as the DA and defense team chose jurors. She listened to the defense team try to diminish the crime.
I will pour my dismay into my plea for your prayers. You have been so faithful to me; please lift up Tracy, her husband, Shelby, and their son, Wes. They are walking a path no parent, no family should have to walk. Kasey's friends are having to relive a night they should never have encountered. They will have to listen to a story that should no parent should have to hear. They will with inspiring strength.
I have never met this family. We found each other because of this blog - because one of you shared it with someone who shared it with someone and that someone was Kasey's aunt. She reached out and I reached back; we know that were two or more are gathered, there God will be also. So thank you for gathering around me, because now we can gather around Tracy.
This will be a very good thing.
