In the months after July, new pathways lay ahead of me. On one, my friend, Tracy Waychoff, waits and leads, walking in front of me and pointing out the areas on the trail that will frighten, threaten and reward us. She encourages me, sends me books. She has read enough of what I write to know that music often reaches my soul before words do and so she sends me songs.
Today she sent me "Golden" by Lady Antebellum; you can hear it here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r4ma0A4x_Q
As I listened to this song, I remember the sun in Taylor's hair creating copper - spun with honey - golden. I see the pictures of Kasey, Tracy's girl smiling with her family. It's warm - like a pocket of sunshine.
I am thankful Tracy shares her hike with me. The trail, marked with her own tears, is also stationed with lights that let me see ahead.
